Why We Started This Reading Club
The idea for the Lexolit Reading Club emerged from a simple personal experience. As an avid reader, I have always enjoyed fiction for the joy of reading itself. However, my understanding of literature changed when I began discussing books with others. During one such conversation about a novel that had deeply moved me, I discovered that different readers interpreted the same text in remarkably different ways. Those discussions opened new perspectives and encouraged me to explore literary works through multiple lenses.
Over time, I had the opportunity to interact with readers from diverse disciplines—not only those from literature backgrounds. Their interpretations, experiences, and insights enriched my understanding of books in ways I had never imagined. Unfortunately, as academic and professional commitments increased, and later during the COVID-19 pandemic, many of these reading communities gradually disappeared.
While I never stopped reading, I missed the experience of reading with others.
The Lexolit Reading Club was created to bring back that spirit of shared reading, thoughtful discussion, and intellectual curiosity. In a world increasingly dominated by short-form content and constant digital distractions, we hope to create a welcoming space where readers can slow down, engage deeply with texts, and learn from one another.
What We Believe
Reading is more than a hobby. It develops empathy, critical thinking, analytical skills, creativity, and cultural understanding. Every reader brings unique experiences to a text, and meaningful discussions often reveal perspectives we may never discover on our own.
Our goal is to provide an inclusive and supportive community where literary enthusiasts can explore books, exchange ideas, and develop a lifelong reading habit.
Who Can Join?
The Reading Club is open to:
- Students from all disciplines
- Research scholars
- Faculty members
- Working professionals
- Literature enthusiasts
- Lifelong learners
You do not need a background in English Literature to participate. In fact, we welcome diverse viewpoints and interdisciplinary conversations.
Membership
We provide free annual membership to all interested participants.
Membership can be renewed every year for participants who attend at least 60% of the club meetings during their membership period.
Participants who do not meet the renewal requirement may reapply for membership and regain active status by attending five consecutive discussion sessions.
How the Club Works
Weekly Live Discussions
- One live discussion session per week
- Duration: 1–2 hours
- Conducted online
- Meeting links and schedules will be communicated via email
Open Forum Discussions
We are also planning to introduce online discussion forums where participants can engage in asynchronous discussions around a selected book throughout the week.

Participation Expectations
To maintain an engaging and active community, members are encouraged to:
- Read the selected text before discussions
- Participate respectfully in conversations
- Share feedback after discussion sessions
- Contribute to a positive learning environment
Membership Certificate
A Reading Club Membership Certificate will be issued to participants who actively engage in at least five discussion sessions, either through live meetings or approved discussion forums.
